Under-21s held at Derby

Alex Jones on target for Albion

ALEX Jones scored his fourth goal in as many games for Albion Under-21s, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Derby County in the Barclays U21 Premier League yesterday.

After being knocked out of the U21 Premier League Cup by the Rams just 12 days earlier, James Shan’s men were keen to inflict revenge on their Midlands rivals.

And it was Albion who took the lead five minutes into the second-half through Jones, the forward firing home from inside the penalty after being teed up by Andre Wright.

But the visitors were unable to hold on to their lead, as Derby striker Alban Bunjaku rifled his shot from a tight angle past Luke Daniels on the hour mark to earn his side a point.

Albion: Daniels, Smart, Garmston, Birch (Wright), Cleet, Howkins, Roofe, S Nabi, Jones (Roberts), A Nabi, Leko.
Unused subs: Palmer, Pace, Wedderburn.
