Ticket details for Gateshead clash

Tickets on sale for FA Cup clash

ALBION have reached a compromise with FA Cup third round opponents Gateshead over ticket prices for The Hawthorns clash in the new year.

The Baggies were this week drawn to face the Vanarama Conference outfit, scheduled to take place on Saturday January 3, in one of four top flight versus non-league third round ties.

The two clubs last night settled on a £15 adult ticket price although Albion were eager to cut the entry charge to the minimum £10 allowed by FA regulations. Gateshead argued for a £20 ticket price and the two clubs eventually accepted the compromise figure.

Concessions will see a £5 charge for seniors and students (Under 21) while juniors can watch the tie for just £3. Tickets are now available, either on-line or in person at the ticket office (0121 227 2227).

Albion Chief Executive Mark Jenkins said: “We recognise that this is an expensive time of the year for supporters and there are so many games to plan for.

“We wanted to do all we could to encourage a big crowd and a Cup-tie atmosphere and were happy to cut the price to the minimum under FA rules.

“But of course we understand Gateshead’s position.”

The visitors are still in the process of assessing demand from their fans for a visit to The Hawthorns but have been given an initial allocation of 2,600.

Under FA rules Gateshead have the right to claim 15 per cent of the capacity and until their numbers are confirmed, Albion will have to withdraw the Smethwick End from sale.

Clubs are waiting for television to cherry pick their ties before confirming the date and kick off times.

But if not selected, Albion will play the tie just two days after their Premier League New Year’s Day clash at West Ham.
