Media diary of Albion v Villa build-up

Behind-the-scenes media insight into derby week

MUCH of the midlands media spotlight has been on Albion's derby clash with local rivals Villa at The Hawthorns on Saturday (3pm ko).

As the build-up to the eagerly anticipated encounter ramps up a gear, we thought we would bring you a behind-the-scenes media diary of this week's events.

Whether it be Alan Irvine, Craig Gardner, Chris Brunt, Ben Foster or Gareth McAuley - here's how you will be reading their quotes online and in the paper, listening to their words on the radio or watching their interviews on TV.

2.45pm - Craig Gardner speaks to members of the local and national written press...

2.50 - The midfielder has a chat with Radio WM about facing his former club...

THURSDAY

Pre-match media briefing

12.45pm - Gareth McAuley is interviewed by PLP for transmission all around the world...

2pm - Alan Irvine chats to 5 live, Radio WM and Free Radio...

2.15pm - The head coach then faces the TV and written media in the press conference...

It does not end there, though.

Irvine spoke to Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour on talkSPORT this morning, previewing the derby encounter.

The head coach and one Albion player will then each be the subject of a quick pre-match TV interview on Saturday before the real business gets underway on the pitch.

It is after that, and hopefully a Baggies victory, that the post-match commitments gets underway - with the world's written, radio and TV press again given the opportunity to put their questions to Irvine and Albion players alike.
