Brunt back in the frame for Albion

Irvine looks ahead to Boxing Day clash.

CHRIS Brunt is available for selection but Victor Anichebe is doubtful for the Boxing Day clash against Manchester City.

The Baggies captain has been out of action since limping off during Albion's draw at Hull City.

But the Northern Ireland man is fit again following his lay-off.

Speaking in this afternoon's press conference about who was and wasn't available, Irvine said:

"Chris Brunt is training, but Victor Anichebe hasn’t been training (groin).

"Georgios Samaras is back in training, Graham Dorrans didn’t train on Tuesday because of a tight calf but he is probably going to be okay and Boaz Myhill has been ill.”

On Manchester City, Irvine said:

"As normal we will look for any weaknesses that we can find. Obviously teams like them don’t have too many but hopefully they have a few that we might be able to exploit. And of course we will look at their strengths and see what we need to do to counteract them.

"I am still desperately disappointed (from Queens Park Rangers) and I need this game to move on completely but as far as the performance overall was concerned it was a really good performance. We deserved to win the game and to come away with absolutely nothing is extremely galling but we have to learn from the things that went wrong and make sure we build on the positives because there were plenty of them."
