Sessegnon suffers shoot-out heartbreak

Baggies forward will play no part in Africa Cup of Nations 2015

STEPHANE Sessegnon yesterday suffered Africa Cup of Nations penalty shoot-out heartbreak with Benin.

The Squirrels' 1-0 defeat by Malawi in Blantyre made it 1-1 on aggregate after two legs to take the first round qualifying tie to spot-kicks.

Benin captain Sessegnon took his country's opening penalty but saw it saved by Malawi hero McDonald Harawa, with the Flames going on to win the shoot-out 4-3 in the Kamuzu Stadium and book their place in the second qualifying round group stage.

It means Sessegnon's Benin will now play no part in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco early next year.
