But Anichebe and Pocognoli to miss visit of Oxford
NEW BOY Cristian Gamboa and fit-again James Morrison have been named in Alan Irvine’s squad for the first time this season for tonight’s Capital One Cup home tie against Oxford (ko 8pm).
Costa Rica international Gamboa has been working on his match fitness since arriving from Rosenborg 11 days ago while Morrison returns after undergoing a knee op in the summer.
Latest signings Georgios Samaras and Silvestre Varela will not be involved and the second-round tie at The Hawthorns has come too soon for Joleon Lescott (knee).
Irvine will also tackle the cup clash without Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) and Victor Anichebe (groin), who both limped off at Southampton.
“Seb and Victor won’t be involved but we’re continuing to assess them in the hope they will be fit for the weekend,” said the head coach.
