Albion XI fall to friendly defeat

Injuries add to Baggies woes

A depleted Albion XI fell to a disappointing 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat away to Hednesford on Saturday.

The Baggies conceded early on as defender Kyle Howkins put through his own net when attempting to get in between Wes Atkinson and a Town striker to clear a dangerous left-wing cross.

The visitors struggled to get going and Hednesford, who ply their trade in the Conference North, doubled their advantage midway through the second half from another ball sent in from out wide.

Albion’s day got worse after the break as Alex Jones was forced off nursing a serious-looking injury, with the striker awaiting the results of a scan, before Rees Wedderburn also hobbled off.

Albion XI: Rose, Atkinson, C Jones, Howkins, Wedderburn (Smart 65’), Pace, Ward, S Nabi, A Trialist, (Roberts 55’), Jones, Barrow.
