Baggies boss delighted with points haul during tricky month
PEPE Mel has challenged his players to climb the table following an April shower of points to put Albion within touching distance of Barclays Premier League safety.
The Baggies amassed seven points from a possible 12 this month - thanks to wins over Norwich and West Ham, and a draw with high-flying Tottenham.
Following yesterday's results, Mel's 15th-placed men are now four points clear of the bottom three - Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich - who each have two games left in contrast to Albion's three and a vastly inferior goal difference.
And Saturday's victory over the Hammers means they are only a point behind them and Hull City, with 12th placed Swansea just a further two points ahead.
“We’ve spoken about the fact that April was most important," said Mel.
“During the month of April we’ve got a lot of points and I think the team is continually looking more similar to what we work on during the week.
“But we’ve still got three games to go and we need to finish as high as possible."
