McAuley strike in vain for NI

GARETH McAuley’s second goal in as many games proved in vain as Northern Ireland suffered a last-gasp 3-2 World Cup qualifying defeat by Luxembourg last night.

The Baggies defender headed home in the 82nd minute to make it 2-2 but the hosts snatched a winner three minutes from time.

Chris Brunt was suspended for the Group F clash.

Boaz Myhill played 90 minutes as Wales lost 3-0 to Serbia in their Group A encounter at Cardiff City Stadium.
