Berahino pinching himself

Baggies striker scores winner on England U21 debut

SAIDO Berahino admitted he was left pinching himself after firing a crucial winner on his England Under-21s debut.

The Baggies striker has enjoyed a whirlwind ten days after also scoring a League Cup hat-trick and making his Barclays Premier League debut in the last ten days.

And within 13 minutes of starting last night’s Euro 2015 opening Group One qualifier against Moldova he netted.

The Albion Academy product played 86 minutes in what was Gareth Southgate’s first game as the young Lions’ boss and was unlucky not to score more in the Madejski Stadium encounter.

“I thank God I got one goal and we won the game,” said Berahino.

“I started well and I’ll take it onto Finland now.

“It’s amazing - I couldn’t dream of it going that way. I’m pinching myself.

“They were brilliant defensively and cleared a few off the line.

“At least we were creating chances, which is a positive sign.”

The 20-year-old hotshot will now be hoping for another start against Finland on Monday.
