Baggies remain undefeated
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies recorded a convincing 4-0 victory over local rivals Wolves in the FA Women's Premier League (Northern Division) at Halesowen Town FC on Sunday.
Second-half strikes from Abigail Pope, Siobhan Hodgetts, Pippa Humphrey and Robyn James saw the Baggies earn their first win of the season.
And ladies boss Dave Lawrence was delighted to see his side extend their unbeaten run to three league games.
“In the first half we absorbed a lot of pressure,” said Lawrence.
“They probably shaded the possession and created a couple of opportunities.
“In the second half we showed our class and scored some brilliantly worked goals including a fantastic free-kick.
“We bossed the second half and they didn’t really manage to break into our half.
“I was always confident our superiority and quality would shine through, which it did.”
Sporting Club Albion are now undefeated in their opening three league games and travel to Stoke City Ladies next weekend.
Lawrence is confident Albion Ladies can continue their good start to the campaign when they travel to Stoke on Sunday – but insists the Potters will be a tough test.
“Stoke are a good team who can pass the ball around so we won’t be underestimating them, but at the same time if we play like we did on Sunday, I’m sure we’ll be alright,” he added.
