Boss: We must turn draws into wins

Clarke pleased with Britannia Stadium display - but disappointed with just one point

STEVE Clarke has urged his players to start turning draws into wins - after admitting he was disappointed their performance did not get the three points it deserved in today’s goalless draw at Stoke.

The Britannia Stadium stalemate saw the Baggies extend their unbeaten Barclays Premier League run to five games.

But they have won only two of those encounters and the result against the Potters saw them slip a place to 13th after eight matches.

“I’m a little bit disappointed only to come away with a point,” said Clarke.

“It’s a good solid away performance that got us a point at a difficult place to come – but we should be talking about three points.

“I think the run is testament to the fact we’re growing as a group.

“August seems a long time ago when you consider how poor we were in the two home games.

“Our away form has been good.

“We’re strong, we’re solid and we know how to play away from home.

“I think you can see signs as a team and squad that we’re doing better.

“All you can do is try and improve from week to week.

“We don’t get too carried away because it’s only a point.

“I’ve just looked at the table and we’ve actually dropped a place.

“It’s an unforgiving league if you don’t get the wins at the right time.

“We’re five unbeaten but only two wins.

“We need to turn the draws into wins – that’s important.”
