Albion join forces with Kaleidoscope

Baggies lend support to leading Sandwell-based charity

LEADING West Midlands mental health and wellbeing charity, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, has kicked-off World Mental Health Day in style by announcing they will be an official charity partner of West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the 2013/2014 season.

The leading Sandwell-based charity is renowned for its superb work across the Black Country in providing services such as therapies, counselling, residential support, training and activities.

And the high-profile link-up with the Baggies is aimed at reaching the common goal of improving the lives of people in the community they serve.

Kaleidoscope Plus Chief Executive, Monica Shafaq, believes the partnership is a match made in heaven and will be a great opportunity to raise awareness and promote positive mental health, as well as help tackle the issue of mental health in sport.

She said: “This is a groundbreaking and exciting partnership for The Kaleidoscope Plus Group and will help us reach a new audience in promoting positive wellbeing and tackling the stigma still attached to mental health.

“We are proud to be associated with such a great footballing institution as West Bromwich Albion.

“Like us, the club work really hard within the community to enrich and support the lives of residents, as well as supporters, and I strongly believe this partnership will be another huge step in helping the people of Sandwell.

“We are all really looking forward to working with them and their supporters as we strive towards a common goal of promoting positive mental health.”

Launching this partnership on World Mental Health Day (Thursday, October 10) is also very important, with Monica adding: “World Mental Health Day is the most significant day in the calendar for us, so to launch this exciting partnership with West Bromwich Albion today is incredible.”

West Bromwich Albion Chief Executive, Mark Jenkins, said: “We are delighted to have made Kaleidoscope Plus Group one of our charity partners for the 2013/14 season.

“With their headquarters on the doorstep of The Hawthorns it seems only natural to support them in any way we can.

“We are looking forward to helping them raise awareness of the important work they undertake, which is vital to the people of Sandwell.”
