Stuart Williams tribute at Villa derby

Club to hold minute's applause in honour of Wales defender

ALBION will pay a full tribute to Stuart Williams at Monday’s Barclays Premier League home fixture with Villa (ko 8pm).

The Wales international passed away on November 5, aged 83, and the club will honour him with a minute’s applause shortly before kick-off.

Albion’s players will also wear black armbands and Monday’s matchday programme will feature a full tribute to Stuart’s time at Albion.

The full-back was a loyal servant to the club, making almost 250 appearances and scoring nine goals during a 12-year spell as a player.

Stuart remained Albion’s most capped international until last season and was also ‘reserve’ for the 1954 FA Cup final success and ‘trainer’ when the club next lifted the trophy 14 years later.
