Oldnall seals late win for U18s

Baggies earn deserved win against Foxes

GED Oldnall's last-gasp strike earned Baggies Under-18s a well-deserved 2-1 win over Leicester on Saturday.

Samir Nabi’s opener gave Albion a half-time lead but the Foxes struck back 35 seconds after the restart and almost stole the lead when they hit the post.

But the hosts regained their first-half dominance after the hour-mark and after seeing the City goalkeeper make a double save from him and being denied a penalty, Oldnall grabbed the winner two minutes from time.

Albion Lead Professional Development Coach James Shan said: “I’m delighted for the boys.

“We dominated the first-half with good spells of possession and keeping the ball in the final third.

“I was particularly pleased for Samir Nabi, whose finish into the top corner of the net was exactly what he had been working on with coach Aaron Danks throughout the week.”

ALBION: Palmer, Sweeney (Buchanan 38), Cleet (Donellan 75), Greenidge, Smart, Ward, Gannon, S Nabi, Hallahan, Wright, Campbell (Oldnall 54). Subs not used: Ross (gk), Leko.
