Baggies looking to bounce back from cup final heartbreak in last game
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies head to Blackburn Rovers tomorrow (ko 7.30pm) looking for at least a point in their final game of the season to secure fourth place in the FA Women’s Premier Division (Northern Division). The Baggies will be looking to bounce back from last week’s heartbreaking Birmingham County Cup penalty shoot-out defeat by Coventry.
And a top-four finish would see them hit the target boss Dave Lawrence set at the start of the campaign.
“We are incredibly motivated to get three points on Thursday night,” he said.
“We have had an impressive season - especially the second half of it - and nothing would please me more than to see my lot go and put on a show.
“It will be difficult as Blackburn have proved over recent weeks they are a well-organised and athletic side to play against.”
The encounter will take place at Rovers’ Ewood Park stadium and Lawrence wants his players to go out and enjoy the occasion of playing on a former Barclays Premier League pitch.
“We will all be focused on getting a positive result, but enjoyment is the key,” he added.
“You don’t get the opportunity to play in such an impressive stadium every week, so we will be going to make the most of it.”
