Baggies beaten by league leaders
ALBION fell to a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham in today’s Barclays U21 Premier League clash at Spurs’ Enfield Training Centre.
Jack Munns’ brace, in addition to strikes from Kenneth McEvoy and Shaquile Coulthirst, fired the Elite Group leaders to their sixth victory in eight games.
The Baggies, who remain seventh in the group, now turn their attention to Sunday’s home game with Manchester United at The Hawthorns (ko 2pm)*.
And development coach David Oldfield believes today’s loss will prove to be a valuable experience for his young players.
“Tottenham are a good side and today has been a good lesson for our players,” said Oldfield.
“We have one or two younger boys in the group and there are lots of positives to take from the game.
“We created some good opportunities and we were quite good between the two penalty areas but inside the box we didn’t have quite enough power or strength to score either score or resist their attacks.
“We’re disappointed to a degree because the goals were preventable and we should have done better.
“The boys played well in patches and had good periods in the game.”
*Admission to Under-21 fixtures played at The Hawthorns this season is £5 adults and £1 concessions. Entry is free for home season ticket holders.
