Baggies suffer defeat at league leaders
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies suffered a 3-0 defeat away at league leaders Sheffield yesterday. The hosts took a ninth-minute lead but the Baggies remained firmly in the game until late into the second half.
Any chances of a comeback were scuppered though when a quick-fire double with goals in the 74th and 79th minutes saw them off.
Albion Ladies manager Dave Lawrence said: “I was really disappointed with the performance and the result.
“Although I don’t think there were three goals in the game, we definitely didn’t do enough to gain anything.
“Sheffield are top of the tree for a reason, they play well in tight areas and show a huge amount of desire.”
The Baggies host fellow mid-table side Derby County next Sunday (ko 2pm).
