Clarke has no plans to recall Dawson

Baggies boss delighted with on-loan defender's progress at Bolton

STEVE Clarke insists he has no plans to recall in-form Craig Dawson from his loan spell at Bolton.

The Baggies defender has taken the Championship by storm since making a move to the Reebok Stadium at the end of January.

He is unbeaten in his seven games for Wanderers and has scored four times to help them climb up to ninth in the table, just five points off the play-off places.

And, although Albion now have the right to recall Dawson at anytime, Clarke believes the best thing for the 22-year-old centre-half is to complete his stay with the Lancashire outfit until the end of the campaign.

“He went there to play games,” said the Baggies boss.

“It’s pointless bringing him back here if he isn’t going to play.

“At the moment with Gareth [McAuley] and Jonas [Olsson] in good form, and Gabi [Tamas] pushing behind them, I'm happy to leave him at Bolton.

“I think I'll play him up front next year - he seems to be scoring a lot of goals!”
