Reds' second-half salvo denies Baggies

ALBION squandered a two-goal lead in their 3-2 defeat by Liverpool at the club’s training ground on Saturday.

The Baggies took control of the Barclays U18 Premier League Group One fixture courtesy of goals from Reece Hayes and Tavhon Campbell – but the Reds sealed the win with second-half strikes from Kristoffer Peterson, Louis Robles and Seyi Ojo.

And lead development coach James Shan was impressed with his side’s attacking display - but admits they were found wanting defensively.

“All in all we’re really disappointed we threw away the two-goal lead,” said Shan.

“We looked very good at various stages of the game and it’s encouraging that we created so many chances after struggling to do so in recent games.

“We probably created 12 good chances and on another day you convert three or four of those and the game would have been different.

“But you can’t concede three goals and expect to win.

“That’s disappointing and we feel we lacked the tactical discipline to prevent the three goals.

“There were good signs of development and improvement from the players and we’re happy with how we played for spells of the game.”

Albion are fourth in Group One after collecting eight points from seven U18 Premier League fixtures.
