Morrison to captain Scotland

Midfielder set to follow Long's lead

JAMES Morrison is set to become the second Albion player in less than a week to captain their country for the first time.

The Baggies midfielder has been named as skipper by Gordon Strachan for Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia in Zagreb on Friday.

Morrison, who has also captained Albion, has 26 caps and two goals under his belt for the Tartan Army.

He will follow a list of illustrious names like Archie Gemmill, Roy Aitken, Graham Souness, Barry Ferguson, Gary McAllister, Colin Hendry and Billy Bremner to wear the armband for Scotland.

Baggies team-mate Shane Long led the Republic of Ireland to a 4-0 friendly win over Georgia on Sunday.
