Baggies return with training match win

Morrison opens scoring in 4-0 success against Tamworth

ALBION returned to action this lunchtime with a 4-0 win against Football Conference Premier Division outfit Tamworth in a 'behind closed doors' training match.

The Baggies fielded a mixture of senior and young pros as they completed a tough week of pre-season training, which has seen the players subjected to nine strenuous sessions inside five days.

In sweltering conditions on pitch No.4 at the club's training ground, James Morrison opened the scoring on 16, swivelling neatly from 12 yards to plant new boy Nicolas Anelka’s centre into the bottom left-hand corner.

It was 2-0 on 29 when Shane Long headed home Kemar Roofe’s back-post cross from the right.

Steve Clarke made ten changes at the break and Markus Rosenberg extended the Baggies’ lead when he volleyed home Gabriel Tamas’ cross on 69.

Saido Berahino completed the scoring six minutes later by tapping home Billy Jones’ pull-back.
