Mulumbu's Congo draw with Ghana

Leopards skipper now prepares for Niger on Thursday

YOUSSOUF Mulumbu helped DR Congo fight back from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with Ghana in their opening Africa Cup of Nations fixture on Sunday – mirroring the spirited comeback of his Albion team-mates at The Hawthorns a day earlier.

Second-half strikes from Tresor Mputu and Dieumerci Mbokani earned the Leopards a valuable point at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

And the Baggies midfielder, who skippered Claude LeRoy’s outfit for the clash with the Black Stars, might have grabbed a winner in the dying moments of the game but was denied by Abdul Dauda.

DR Congo now turn their attention to Niger, who they face on Thursday (ko 6pm), before their final Group B fixture against Mali next Monday (ko 5pm).
