Boss: Dorrans may think again

Clarke says want-away midfielder's recent run in the team could make a difference

STEVE Clarke hopes Graham Dorrans’ current run in the team will persuade him he still has a significant part to play at The Hawthorns between now and the end of the season.

The want-away Scotland international has been keen to seek a ‘fresh challenge’ and was earlier this month told he would be allowed to leave in the January transfer window if a ‘suitable’ deal arises.

But he has started three of the last five Barclays Premier League games for the Baggies and Clarke hopes that will make Dorrans think again.

“Graham’s situation is slightly different,” said the Hawthorns boss.

“He was frustrated before Christmas that he wasn’t in the team and wasn’t playing.

“He wanted to go somewhere else to play regular football.

“He’s playing quite regularly at the moment.

“Maybe that will change his mind and he’ll tough it out with us until the end of the season.

“Then we’ll reassess his situation."
