Interesting facts

Albion's 4-2 victory at the Stadium of Light in November saw them record their best-ever start to a top-flight campaign, with 13 games played, since the 1953/54 season.

The Baggies are unbeaten in their last six Barclays Premier League encounters with the Black Cats, winning five and drawing one.

Albion have not kept consecutive clean sheets since April last year - but the last time they did followed a win at Liverpool.

At this stage last season the Baggies were 12th in the Premier League with 32 points.

Albion versus Sunderland is a consistently high-scoring game with an average of 3.22 goals in the 147 meetings.

On this weekend in 1937 the Baggies overcame the Black Cats 6-4 at The Hawthorns with club legend WG Richardson on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Last season Roy Hodgson's outfit defeated Sunderland 4-0 at The Hawthorns on Saturday, February 25 - the next meeting between the two sides at the same venue tomorrow comes almost exactly a year to the day.
