Baggies edge closer to cup glory after Wolves victory

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies have secured their place in the Birmingham County Cup final after overcoming Wolves 2-0 on Sunday.

Second-half strikes from Robyn James and Emily Owen (pictured) earned the Baggies a final clash with either Villa or Coventry with the two sides scheduled to play their semi-final tie this Sunday.   

And Albion boss Dave Lawrence expressed his delight at reaching the final of the competition. 

“I’m very proud and this group of players deserve to be in a cup final,” said Lawrence.

“Their attitude as a group this season has been fantastic. 

“They've worked hard, shown excellent attitude and have allowed me to enjoy the season too.”
