Ladies back in league action

Lawrence's side in confident mood after back-to-back cup wins

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies return to league action at Preston North End Ladies on Sunday following back-to-back cup wins.

The Baggies beat Leafield last weekend in the FA Cup third round and on Wednesday thrashed Halesowen 9-1 in the quarter-finals of the Birmingham County Cup.

Manager Dave Lawrence has praised his side’s performances but expects a tougher challenge this time round.

“Morale is very high in the camp at the moment,” he said.

“The players have really shown squad unity over the last week or so, and that came out on the pitch on Wednesday night.

“Nothing improves confidence like winning games and scoring goals, so we will be going into the game on Sunday high in confidence.

“PNE are a well-organised, disciplined and technically-sound side.

“We just need to take the chances and keep the defensive unit tight.”

The draw for the Birmingham County Cup semi-final has yet to be made but SCA Ladies have drawn Sunderland at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
