But boss insists he is not blind to dangers below
STEVE Clarke has urged his players to start looking up the table rather than over their shoulders ahead of today’s trip to Cardiff (ko 3pm).
A run of three successive defeats has seen the Baggies drop to 15th place and just two points above the bottom three.
But they are also only four points adrift of tenth spot, with victory over the Bluebirds guaranteed to boost their Barclays Premier League position.
“There are more teams than us in a relegation battle,” said Clarke.
“It’s too early to say it’s a relegation dogfight.
“We’re down there and stuck down there – but it’s too early in the season to say that.
“We don’t put our heads under a pillow and not understand the situation – we understand the situation perfectly.
“But at the moment it would be nice to start winning a few games and target the teams above us.”
