Under-18s held by Canaries

Baggies improve defensively but lack cutting edge

ALBION fought out a goalless draw with Norwich at the weekend to make it two stalemates to start their Barclays Under 18 Premier League campaign.

The Baggies had the better of the first half against the Canaries but could not convert their chances.

But coach James Shan was delighted to see his troops keep a clean-sheet after conceding four against Manchester City on the opening day.

He said: “Our first-half performance was much better than the second and we need to make sure we do it over 90 minutes.

“We lacked creativity and penetration and in the second half we had to weather the storm a little bit, with Alex Palmer (pictured) making two impressive one-on-one saves.”

ALBION (4-3-3): Palmer; Buchannon, Donnellan (Cleet 35), C Jones, JP Jones; Leko, Pace, Ward; Campbell (Wright 22), Oldnall, Hallaghan (Wedderburn 60). Subs not used: Ross (gk), Barrow.
