Foster injury a worry for Clarke

And boss explains Myhill absence as he praises Daniels

STEVE Clarke has revealed Ben Foster will undergo scans early next week after limping off in the 77th minute of today’s goalless draw at Everton with a foot injury.

Boaz Myhill missed the trip to Goodison Park due to a wrist problem he picked up in training and that paved the way for Luke Daniels to step off the bench and make his Albion debut.

Daniels is now likely to line-up against Newport County AFC in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup clash at The Hawthorns (ko 8pm).

“Ben was excellent today as were the rest of my team,” said Clarke.

“In his own words Ben felt a pop in his foot.

“The pain was obviously strong because Ben’s not the type of guy to go down if there’s nothing wrong with him.

“The fact he came off the pitch tells you he has an injury we have to be a little bit worried about.

“But until we do the scans and let the medical people do their jobs it is difficult to say what the prognosis is and the outcome.”

The Albion chief added: “Boaz injured his wrist in training - he’s improving.

“Young Luke went in and did okay.

“At the moment Luke is in pole position for the game on Tuesday.

“Boaz we hope will train tomorrow.

“If he doesn’t train tomorrow then it will probably mean Luke plays on Tuesday night.

“But I’ve got no worries about that at all.”
