And boss admits he's having to rein 'enthusiastic' midfielder in
STEVE Clarke has pencilled in Albion’s Capital One Cup clash with Arsenal at the end of September as a potential return to first-team action for Zoltan Gera. The Hungary skipper was back in full training this week after being sidelined since January by a second anterior cruciate ligament knee injury in successive seasons.
And Clarke admits he is having to rein in the 34-year-old midfielder, who is aiming to be available for selection no later than early October.
“Zolly’s training again – it’s fantastic,” said the Albion chief.
“He’s doing very well.
“I’ve got to slow him down – he’s 34!
“He needs to relax; he’s great and has great enthusiasm.
“He’s not match ready to make a contribution yet.
“With Zoltan you are probably looking towards the Capital One Cup tie at the end of the month in terms of making an appearance.
“It may be even later than that.
“I think the doctor would tell you the start of October, so he’ll have four good weeks training with the team before we start pushing him towards matches.”
