Baggies beat Foxes to secure third straight win
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies climbed into third place in the Women’s Northern Division after an impressive 3-0 victory at league strugglers Leicester yesterday.A first-half brace from Abbie Pope and a second-half own goal secured the Baggies’ third successive win.
Baggies boss Dave Lawrence is currently coaching in Africa with the Albion Foundation, so Albion Ladies’ first team coaches Lee Wood and Richard Holmes took charge against the Foxes.
Wood said: “We controlled the game from start to finish and Leicester never looked like threatening us.
“Although the pitch did not suit our style of play, we adapted and took control.”
He was also delighted to see the return to action of Kayleigh Griffiths as she came on in the 82nd minute after being out injured for more than six months with a broken leg.
“It was great to see Kayleigh back on the pitch," he added.
“She has worked really hard with many people at SCA to get back.”
