Improved Baggies unfortunate to lose

ALBION Under-18s lost 1-0 at Blackburn in Professional Development League One on Saturday.

Rovers edged the tightly-fought contest through a Tom Brown penalty on the half-hour mark but the Baggies had chances of their own and were unfortunate to lose.

And lead professional development coach James Shan was encouraged by his side’s much-improved performance.

“We were good during the first half although we didn’t have the control of possession I’d have liked us to have,” said Shan.

“We created some good chances and we got into some really good positions.

“The back four were better and I was pleased with how we restricted their chances.

“We were missing some of our big hitters and to have four or five players, who would normally start, missing is difficult but I was pleased with how some of the younger lads stepped up.

“The things that we underperformed on last week were much better on Saturday.

“There’s nothing drastically wrong and we probably just need to take a few more risks in the final third of the pitch.”
