Ladies fall to defeat after two successive victories
SPORTING Club Albion Ladies lost 3-2 at Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division) on Sunday – despite twice holding the lead.
Goals from Ashleigh Neville and Robyn James should have been enough to earn the Baggies at least a point but Forest fought back to claim all three.
Ladies boss Dave Lawrence insists his side did not deserve to lose the game and hopes they can bounce back from the defeat in this Sunday’s home clash with Preston.
“It’s always disappointing to lead twice away from home and not get any points from the game,” said Lawrence.
“We were lucky in the first 15 minutes not to be at least two goals down.
“We started sloppy and they had some great chances.
“Robyn James scored another well worked goal, but again we let ourselves down with a really poor second, not attacking a set piece.
“It was a game that we did well enough to get a point from, and it’s always a shame to concede so late on, but we have to bounce back again and make sure we win against Preston next week.
“It will be another tough game, but one that with better shape and more quality possession, we should get a much needed three points.”
