Albion U18 3 Blackburn U18 2

Shan's side secure long-awaited win

ALBION Under-18s recorded their first win since August in a 3-2 victory over Blackburn at the club’s training ground on Saturday.

Alex Jones netted his second goal of the game with only two minutes of normal time remaining to end a run of six games without a win for the Baggies.

Rovers twice fought back from behind but Jones’ brace, in addition to Samir Nabi’s second-half strike, was too much for the visitors.

Lead coach James Shan was delighted with the result but insists his side have played better and lost.

“It was probably one of the poorest performances of the season,” said Shan.

“They hit the post twice in the first half and it could have been very different.

“From a coaching perspective, I’m delighted to come away with the three points.

“We were dogged and we showed some steel to get the win.

“We probably played better against Bolton in our last game and lost.

“Hopefully the win will bring us some confidence – it’s massive for us.”
