Derby action for Ladies

Baggies visit Villa in Premier League Cup

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies are in derby action this Sunday (ko 2pm) as they travel to Villa in the Premier League Cup.

The Baggies returned to winning ways last weekend with an impressive 4-2 success at Solihull Ladies and manager Dave Lawrence is hoping they can build on their Birmingham County Cup second-round victory.

“Last week we were able to knock the ball around confidently and retain possession for long periods,” he said.

“It’s something we have worked on again this week in training so that ability to keep the ball should assist our confidence.”

Villa have been in a rich vein of form of late, winning their last five games - but the Baggies will be looking to upset the odds.

Lawrence added: “Villa are a top team, full of young, mobile and ambitious players. They will probably be the best team we have played this year.

“But we may just have enough determination and ability to cause an upset.”
