Toffees fight back to deny the Baggies all three points
ALEX Jones netted a brace as Albion Under-18s drew 2-2 with Everton at the club’s training ground on Saturday.
The Baggies twice took the lead through Jones but the third-placed Toffees fought back to earn a point.
James Shan’s side were denied a penalty with less than a minute to go when Isaiah Brown was brought down inside the area.
And the Albion Under-18s gaffer was pleased with his team’s performance, while also expressing disappointment that they did not earn all three points from the game.
“I’m pleased with both aspects of our game, both in and out of possession,” said Shan.
“We did some work in the week on pressing with intensity and the boys did it well.
“We like to be patient in our build-up play if we are unable to go forward quickly.
“The boys showed good courage to rebuild and played with intelligence.
“Everton equalised through a cross that we have identified a number of events we could have done better to prevent.
“But the boys showed good character after conceding and should have taken the lead through Alex Jones after a well-worked set piece.
“I’m pleased with our performance overall, however, I’m also naturally disappointed as we see it as two points lost rather than one gained.”
