And Clarke reveals a number of Championship clubs have expressed interest in Wood
STEVE Clarke has revealed he may recall some of his loan players if his squad’s injury problems get any worse during the busy festive fixture schedule.
The Baggies boss has six players in the treatment room ahead of tomorrow’s game against West Ham (ko 4pm).
And he admits he could turn to the likes of Jerome Thomas, Chris Wood and George Thorne, who are currently at Leeds, Millwall and Peterborough respectively, to bolster his ranks.
“In all the loans we did there is a 28-day recall,” said Clarke.
“Saido Berahino is back because he’s injured, we can recall Chris Wood when we want and Jerome and George can be called back after our game against Norwich.
“We’d have to consider calling players back if the injury situation doesn’t clear up as quickly as we hope.”
Clarke also confirmed a number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in Wood ahead of the January transfer window.
“Chris has done fantastically at Millwall,” the Baggies boss added.
“He’s scored goals, which he’s always done when he’s played in the Championship.
“There are a number of clubs in the Championship who have enquired about Chris.
“It’s something we’ll deal with when we get to January.
“I’m keeping all my options open until we get through the busy festive period.”
