ALBION Under-21s were humbled in a disappointing 6-1 defeat at Reading last night in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.
The Baggies, who trailed the Royals 5-0 at the break, pulled one back with a Saido Berahino second-half penalty.
The Baggies went into the game full of confidence following last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Everton at the club’s training ground.
And Albion’s development/reserves coach David Oldfield believes his side need to learn from the result as they now prepare to face Blackburn Rovers on Monday, September 3 (ko 2pm).
“I’m very disappointed and the only way we can get some solace from it is if we learn and to put it down to experience,” said Oldfield.
“We had some passages of good play in the game and could have scored two or three goals ourselves but showed some naivety in our play and we got a lesson in reality.
“The boys played very well the previous week and suffered this weekend and we need to take responsibility, keep our chins up, and pick ourselves up again.”
