The Albion make the short trip to the CBS Arena on Monday night where they'll take on Midlands rivals Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship (ko 8pm).

Carlos Corberán's men head into the encounter having taking four points from their last two matches, keeping a pair of clean sheets in the process.

Hosts Coventry City, who were beaten in last season's play-off final at Wembley by Luton Town on penalties, have lost their last two matches without scoring and are winless in three.

Monday's clash will be the 68th meeting between the two clubs. The Baggies have won 33, lost 17 and drawn 17 of their previous 67 games with the Sky Blues.

The opponents

Coventry City are yet to hit the heights they reached in the previous campaign and head into Monday's match sat inside the bottom half of the division.

The Sky Blues agonisingly missed out on a spot in the Premier League following a play-off final shootout defeat to Luton Town at Wembley in late May, that coming after a terrific term in the second tier in which they collected 70 points and secured a fifth-place finish.

This season, City have won three, drawn six and lost four of their 13 matches, earning 15 points. They've lost their last two games, though both were away from home at Bristol City and most recently, Rotherham United.

On home soil they remain unbeaten, winning two and drawing four of their six games.

Mark Robins is the longest-serving boss in the Sky Bet Championship having been in charge since March 2017. The 53-year-old former Manchester United, Norwich City, Leicester City and Rotherham United striker has guided the club all the way up to the Championship from League Two during his second stint in charge.

His first was a much briefer spell between September 2012 and February 2013. In total, Robins has won 147, drawn 100 and lost 117 of his 364 fixtures as the Sky Blues boss.

Coventry City will be hoping to recapture last season's form

One to remember

Four second-half strikes secured three second-tier points against the Sky Blues in November 2007.

Coventry striker Michael Mifsud was dismissed in the 11th minute of the match, but it took the Baggies until 11 minutes after the break to find their cutting edge.

Paul Robinson got the ball rolling in terms of goals, with a Felipe Teixeira brace sandwiched in between the defender's chip and Robert Koren's fourth in added time.

Did you know?

The last six head-to-heads have been very tight encounters.

Four of the last half-dozen games have seen one of the two teams win by just a single-goal margin, with the other two ending goalless.

Half of those six fixtures have finished 1-0 to the home side, including both of last season's Sky Bet Championship clashes.

Viktor Gyokeres bagged a late winner at the CBS Arena in December, but Grady Diangana's solitary strike secured revenge for Corberán's group in the return game in February.

Albion earned a fantastic 2-0 win at Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday evening.

Goals either side of half-time from in-form duo Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante were the difference, handing the Baggies all three points.

The defeat was the Sky Blues’ first at home this season, with the victory moving Carlos Corberán’s side up to fifth in the table.

The boss made two changes to his XI, bringing in Pipa for his first start alongside Alex Mowatt.

And the Baggies began brightly - netting inside 17 minutes when City goalkeeper Ben Wilson fumbled Nathaniel Chalobah’s long-range effort, giving Diangana the chance to score the rebound.

Kyle Bartley had hit the post before Albion’s opener, and Alex Palmer also stopped a venomous shot by Tatsuhiro Sakamoto.

Coventry searched for an equaliser for the rest of the half but were denied by a stubborn Albion defence.

Their best two chances fell to Haji Wright, however he guided one close-range effort off-target and saw another well saved.

Wright will feel like he should have levelled straight after the break, too, when Alex Mowatt’s tackle accidentally played him in. The striker’s finish missed the target, though, and Albion were handed another let-off.

The hosts were then made to rue those missed opportunities in the 69th minute - super substitute Thomas-Asante, brilliantly played through on goal by Matt Phillips, sent an emphatic finish into the top corner to double the Baggies’ advantage.

The striker couldn't double his tally on the night, though, after dispossessing the hosts deep inside their half before sending an effort flying over the bar, despite a pass to Diangana looking the better option on the cards after entering the box.

But it didn't matter in the end, as Albion defended resiliently to secure a clean sheet, get back to winning ways on the road, and bring a big three points back to The Hawthorns.
