West Bromwich Albion are back on their travels this weekend, heading up to Yorkshire and the John Smith's Stadium to take on relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship (ko midday).

The Baggies held on to earn a point at QPR in midweek, with the Loftus Road outfit piling plenty of pressure on Alex Palmer's goal in the second 45.

Hosts Huddersfield slipped to a 1-0 reverse at Cardiff City on the same night Carlos Corberán's men were in the capital.

The Terriers, who are unbeaten at home in their last four against Albion, won the reverse fixture 2-1 at The Hawthorns back in September thanks to Jack Rudoni's last-minute strike in front of the Smethwick End.

The opponents

Just like Wednesday's opponents QPR, Huddersfield Town are a team fighting for their Sky Bet Championship lives.

The Terriers have collected 38 points from their 36 matches and are one of many teams threatened by relegation to the third tier of English football with only two months left of the 2023/24 campaign.

They were beaten 1-0 by Cardiff City in midweek, a result which would have come as a huge frustration on the back of really positive results away at Watford (2-1) and at home to neighbours Leeds United (1-1).

Sunday's hosts have only lost three of their last ten league matches and will know every single point picked up between now and May 4th will be incredibly valuable.

They're managed by 50-year-old German Andre Breitenreiter. The former Schalke, Hannover, FC Zurich and Hoffenheim boss was appointed on February 15 2024 and is their third permanent gaffer this season, following on from Neil Warnock and Darren Moore.

His Terriers record reads played three, won one, drawn one and lost one.

One to remember

Jed Wallace's brace helped Albion fight back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Huddersfield Town last season.

Faustino Anjorin scored twice inside the opening half-an-hour for the hosts to put them in a commanding position, only for the Baggies to hit back through the wide man and take home a share of the spoils.

An incredible second-half turnaround fired Albion to a 4-1 win at Huddersfield on Sunday afternoon.

Following a tough opening 45 minutes, the Terriers held a narrow advantage via Delano Burgzorg’s effort.

However, Carlos Corberán’s men came roaring back after the interval, as Mikey Johnston (2), Okay Yokuslu and Kyle Bartley scored four excellent goals, securing three huge points.

The boss made two changes to his starting XI, replacing Erik Pieters and Tom Fellows with Kyle Bartley and Andi Weimann.

His side found it difficult during the first half, though, and went one down through Burgzorg’s 30th-minute finish.

In truth, they were fortunate not to be two behind at the break - Bartley coming to the rescue by putting in a superb goal-saving tackle when Jack Rudoni looked like netting.

But a quite sensational second period really began six minutes after the restart, Weimann cleverly evading offside to set-up Johnston, who equalised from close-range.

And Albion soon edged ahead. Alex Mowatt’s dangerous corner caused utter chaos and Bartley was there, scrambling home for 1-2.

They did not stop there, either. The best of the lot arrived on the 66-minute mark - Yokuslu letting fly 25-yards out and finding the top corner with an absolute screamer.

The Baggies then completed an eye-catching scoreline at the same time as Johnston secured his brace, the winger running free down the left, coasting past Huddersfield’s defence and sliding a wonderful finish between Lee Nicholls’s legs.

The impressive victory ensures Albion stay fifth in the table before Bristol City visit The Hawthorns next Saturday.
