Siobhan Hodgetts-Still admits her side “gifted” Black Country rivals Wolves their goals in Sunday’s FAWNL Northern Premier defeat.

The Baggies conceded twice in the first period before the visitors went on to add a third late on at the Alexander Stadium, despite a much-improved showing in the second 45.

The boss was disappointed with the manner in which they allowed Wolves to take control and says she wants to see her side come back stronger when they return to action in 2026.

She said: “It’s not the result that we wanted. We wanted to get some points today, but we gifted them two goals.

“We competed really well in the second half. We competed and had some really good chances, and they scored a third from outside of the box.

“We know they’re a good team, but I thought we competed really well. We caused some problems and could’ve scored two or three goals ourselves.

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still says her side caused their rivals "problems" during Sunday's encounter

“Being clinical has been one of our main problems so far this season. We know what we’ve got to improve on, but it’s now time for the players to have a week’s rest, enjoy Christmas and get back in the New Year to try and get some points.

“We’ve had a really good start to the season. Personally, I believe we’re about five points away from the tally we should have.

“As a group, we’re not satisfied with where we are, we should’ve got more from Halifax and Loughborough in recent weeks. I think going into next year, we’ve set ourselves a challenge and we’ve all got to come together to achieve that.

“It’s nice to now have some time off, the girls have been in since the start of July, every weekend and committing like they do. It’s time that they go and enjoy their rest and spend time with their families, then we we’re back in over Christmas to prepare for Hull City.”
