New signing Lucy Day says she wants to carry on where she left off at West Bromwich Albion after rejoining following a promising loan spell last term.
The defender enjoyed a temporary spell at the Baggies on a dual-registration deal from fellow Midlands club Birmingham City in 2025/26, making nine appearances and scoring four goals.
Day links up with plenty of familiar faces in B71, but also one new one in Interim Head Coach, Martyn Irvine, who she’s incredibly excited to work with.
She said: “I’m really happy and excited to get started and be here. I'm pleased I can now be here all the time and play as many games as possible.
“I hope to carry on where I left off in my loan spell. The club has great ambitions and I want to get us closer to the top of the league - we aim to finish higher than we did last season.
“I spoke to Siobhan Hodgetts-Still at the end of last season about playing regularly, and how that’s important for a young player to develop. It’s important to get regular minutes and to be comfortable where you’re playing; that’s how I’ll feel here.
“To make the move permanent was something I was really keen to do. I know all the girls, all the staff, and I’m so pleased that was offered to me.
“It’s a big step in my football journey to sign with a senior club, and it’s going to be a challenge, but it’s something to look forward to. I don’t think I could be coming into a better group of staff and players.
“Martyn Irvine seems like he’s going to be a really good fit for us. He’s going to be a really good person to have around the club and he can bring the best out of all of us.
“Last season being our best season in a decade was really good. It’s a great platform for us to build on.
“We played some great football at times, and we were incredibly unlucky with some of the results we got. This year, we want to strive to do better, and that’s what I’m here to help with.
“I’m just really excited to get started now, and seeing the girls again will be nice. I didn’t really get a chance to say goodbye before the end of my loan, but it’ll be amazing to see everyone again and start playing football again.”
