Striker Aune Heggebø joins up with Ryan Mason’s squad in-form and ready to go, having netted seven goals from 13 games in the Norwegian top flight this season.
The Eliteserien campaign runs from March until November - meaning Albion’s new recruit arrives match-fit after an encouraging term so far.
Described by himself as “hardworking” and a player who will “create chances, score goals, and also help the team”, the 23-year-old has certainly lived up to that billing since breaking through the ranks at SK Brann.
In total, he struck 51 goals and claimed 14 assists from 146 senior showings before swapping the Norwegian fjords for The Hawthorns.

The Bergen-born forward was in and amongst the goals from the very start for his hometown club. He made a memorable first-team debut when he came on during an NM-Cup tie against IL Sandviken in April 2018, scoring to turn an already-special day into a perfect one.
The next year saw Aune make his first few appearances in Norway’s top league, but a 2020 loan at second-tier Øygarden helped him really catch the eye.
Nine goals and eight assists, despite his temporary team facing a difficult spell, set the forward up to head home and push forward with SK Brann.

Although his hometown side ultimately suffered relegation via the play-offs in 2021, Heggebø stood out on an individual level again by netting double-figure goals across all competitions.
He then played a key part as they immediately returned to the top flight the following campaign, notching 13 league strikes and three assists when SK Brann lifted the OBOS-ligaen title.
That form earned him a Norway U21 cap in June 2022. And Aune has established himself as one of the country’s brightest young attackers ever since - securing 30 goal contributions (23G, 7A) in 69 domestic appearances over the last two-and-a-half years.
He even had a taste of European football during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, featuring 10 times in UEFA Conference League qualifying and bagging once.
Baggies fans will certainly be hopeful that Heggebø can continue his goalscoring exploits now he begins a five-year contract at the Albion.
