Carlos Corberán says Albion’s Sky Bet Championship test at Norwich City this weekend will be a “big” one for a number of reasons.

The Baggies, fifth in the second tier, take on David Wagner’s men who are part of the play-off-chasing pack in the division on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm).

Norwich ended 2023 with consecutive 1-0 away setbacks at The Hawthorns on Boxing Day and then at Millwall on December 29, but have since gone four games without defeat in league and cup.

In Norfolk, the Canaries are enjoying a six-match unbeaten run and are seeking out a first home triumph over Albion since September 2015.

Carlos believes the Baggies’ next opponents have several stars capable of hurting his team if they’re not at their best and has urged his players to be “conscious” of that heading into the eye-catching encounter.

He said: “It’s a big test. It’s a big test for us for so many reasons.

“In football you are always playing at home or away and it’s eleven versus eleven on the pitch, but on Saturday, we are playing at a stadium which is very difficult to play at.

“Norwich have plenty of very good players so we will be coming up against a very good team, regardless of which players they pick to start the match.

“It’s a test which demands the best from us. If we don’t compete to our best level, then it’s going to be very difficult to achieve something. We have to be very conscious of this.

“Norwich’s home form is very, very good. They’ve not lost any of their last six games at Carrow Road and they’ll be full of confidence I’m sure.

“They got a big win away from home at Hull in their last league game and they’ve also won on their travels in the cup this week at Bristol Rovers.

“We managed to beat them on Boxing Day but what has happened in the past will not have any impact on what happens on Saturday.

“There will be differences in the starting teams and there will be differences in terms of squad availability.

“Both teams can take confidence from winning games and doing things properly. We’ve both won our last two, so I’m sure it will be a very good game.”
