Albion Women are on the hunt for a place in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round as they travel to Leeds United on Sunday (2pm).
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side haven’t scored in their last two matches, so will surely have final-third improvement on their minds as they head to the Bannister Prentice Community Stadium for their third-round clash.
The Baggies have already faced the Whites in a cup competition this year, beating their Yorkshire opponents on penalties in the FAWNL Cup, and will hope to repeat their success on Sunday.
Last time out
The Baggies drew 0-0 with Loughborough Lightning in their last match. Hodgetts-Still’s Albion team saw plenty of chances fall their way, but were unable to convert any of them and were forced to settle for a point.
The opposition
Hosts Leeds United are in the midst of a red-hot run of form in the FAWNL Division One North.
The Whites, who are managed by Simon Wood, have won their last six league games. Most recently, they claimed a 3-2 win away at Norton Ladies, where an 88th-minute own goal was enough to secure all three points at the Norton Sports Complex.
Wood's side currently lurk just outside of the promotion spaces in the fourth tier, and sit just three points behind Wythenshawe and Huddersfield Town, who occupy the top two spots.
Leeds will hope to translate their positive league performances into the cup, where they've scored eight goals in two games - conceding just twice in wins over Huddersfield and St Helens.
Previous meetings
Albion Women (p)1-1 Leeds United – November 2025
Albion Women produced penalty shootout heroics to triumph over their Yorkshire FAWNL Cup opponents in the most recent meeting between the two sides. The visitors went ahead midway through the first half, but the Baggies equalised through Molly Kehoe, before a 4-2 win on penalties secured their place in the quarter-finals.
Leeds United 2-1 Albion Women – December 2022
The Baggies bowed out of the FAWNL Plate with a 2-1 defeat to Leeds in December of 2022. In Jenny Sugarman’s 50th-competitive game in charge, Macey Ellis scored a brace prior to a Mariam Mahmood consolation late in the day.
Pre-match thoughts
Defender Ella Haughey has found a settled home for her football since joining from Nottingham Forest at the start of the 2024/25 season.
The Northern Irish left-back moved to Forest in 2023 from Lisburn, where she began her career, but didn’t see the amount of minutes that she would’ve liked.
Now, after nailing down a starting spot with the Baggies under Hodgetts-Still, Haughey says she’s found a “home away from home” at The Hawthorns, and this season’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup campaign gives her the perfect chance to fulfil her own ambitions.
“It took a while [to nail down a starting spot]. I just had to keep my head down, kept working harder, but I knew I could come into the team with the girls and help as much as I can.
“I’ve been loving it, playing here is a home away from home. I just love it and hopefully long may it continue.
“I feel I’ve improved massively so far. I just wanted regular minutes, which I wasn’t getting the season before I joined.
“At my age, I’m still young and all I want to do is play, so thankfully West Brom took me in. Shev (Siobhan Hodgetts-Still)’s been a massive help with confidence and I hope that she sees me as a leader, because I like to take on that role.
“I’ve grown in confidence massively, and my football’s got a lot better.
“It was a hard-earned point last Sunday [a 0-0 draw with Loughborough]. I think we were disappointed that we didn’t come away with all three.
“We don’t feel it’s all negative, though. We just need to take a point, move on and build from this.
“We played Leeds at Alexander Stadium a few weeks ago, they were very physical and that’s the way they play so that’s a bonus. It’ll be a bit harder going away to Leeds, but all we’re thinking about is the next round of the cup and we want to progress.
“We hope we can get through and then get a big team in the next round. It’s the biggest cup you can play in as a player – it’s a great honour.
“We want to get to the latter stages and get those dream draws like we did against Manchester United last year. We hope to keep progressing and then we can get a big team.”
