Albion News pays homage to classic

Albion and Newcastle United are rejoined in battle when The Hawthorns stages a fifth round FA Cup tie between these two old rivals.

And to mark the occasion, Albion News will carry a one-off new look as we celebrate the long history of battles between two of English football’s famous old clubs.

By an incredible stroke of coincidence, Tuesday’s tie echoes one of the most epic Cup battles The Hawthorns has staged when on February 20, 1954 Albion and Newcastle met at the same stage of the competition.

In tonight’s match  programme we will be not only paying homage to that famous old cover but giving fans a real taste of their grandparents’ era by reprinting the whole of the 1954 12-page programme in the middle.

It offers a fascinating throwback and insight to a different time and a very different football era which will make this Albion News a collectors’ item.

The issue provides reflections of that epic game, the last to be played in front of a crowd of more than 60,000 at The Hawthorns and carries a retro-theme throughout. And there’s a special tribute to the legendary football figure who binds Albion and Newcastle – Sir Bobby Robson.

This special Albion News will be available for £3 at all the regular outlets.
