Under 18's

Albion U18s 0 Burnley U18s 2

Albion Under-18s missed out on the chance to play in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals after falling to a 2-0 defeat against Burnley at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium.

The young Baggies made it to the last 16 of the competition after victories against Scunthorpe United and Middlesbrough, but were thwarted on the road against an organised Burnley side.

In the first half, Toby King fired a dangerous effort from range, while Alex Gilbert couldn’t slot home when he went through one-on-one with Kane Patterson in the Burnley net.

The hosts looked like they had took the advantage after the break when Matthew Rain prodded home from close range, but he was judged to have been offside.

Jacob Wakeling went close for Albion, but it would be the Clarets who would excel in the final stages of the encounter.

Dylan Moonan flicked a corner home to put the hosts ahead with just more than 10 minutes to play, and Corey Brennan netted a second to secure the victory for the hosts in the final moments.

ALBION: Griffiths; Ingram, Taylor, H Williams, Delaney; King (Richards 81), Andrews; Fellows (Gardner-Hickman 45), Thorndike (Faal 86), Gilbert; Wakeling.

Substitutes: Emery, Ashworth, Iroegbunam, Teixeira.
