101 Questions with Kieran Gibbs

Give a big Baggies welcome to 101 Questions – our new feature which fires random questions at the players.

Here’s how it works. Each Albion man will pick 10 numbers between 1 and 101. Behind each number is a question. The questions are a mix of just about everything, covering football, personal life, opinions on a wide range of topics and even childhood memories.

Got it? Great. It’s quite simple. The first Baggie to step up and face the numbers? Introducing our No.3, Kieran Gibbs.

Thanks for joining us, Gibbo. Please pick your 10 numbers.

"No problem. I’ll go for 3, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26, 30, 36, 50 and 89."

3 – What’s the most recent thing you watched on Netflix and what did you think of it?

"I watched the Amanda Knox documentary. I really enjoyed it. I don’t really remember much about when it happened. I thought it was a fascinating case."

13 – Was there ever a time when you thought you weren’t going to make it as a professional footballer? What was it like to have those feelings and how did you get through it?

"Yeah, I think before the age of let’s say 16 or 17 when I hadn’t fully grown was when I thought I might not because a lot of the players I played with and against were far ahead of me. That was hard to take, but as I started to develop I worked really hard in the gym and on the pitch to try and give myself the best possible chance of becoming a professional footballer."

14 – Who’s your best pal in football and how long have you known them?

"I would say both Henri Lansbury and Danny Welbeck. I’ve known Henri since I was about 14 and I’ve known Danny since I was 18."

19 – What makes Slaven Bilić such a good manager to play for?

"Slaven in a people’s person. He’s very straightforward and he has this charisma which just makes you want to play for him. He’s extremely experienced in this county and he knows English football inside out."

20 – Who’s the funniest player at Albion and why?

"I’d have to say Kyle Edwards. He’s always having a laugh with someone and I love his energy."

26 – Is there a song you listen to before every game? If so, why is that and which song do you play pre-match?

"I don’t really have one if I’m being completely honest. I just normally listen to whatever it is I’m into at the time."

30 – What’s the best birthday present you ever received?

"My mum got me my first BMX bike when I was about eight. I absolutely loved it."

36 – Favourite Disney film and why?

"The Fox and the Hound. That’s my favourite Disney film. I remember we had it on video when I was younger. My brother and I used to watch it all the time when we were kids."

50 – Which language would you most like to learn and why?

"Spanish. Most definitely. I have a few Spanish friends and I think it would be really cool to be able to speak to them in their own language."

89 - What’s the worst dressing room prank you’ve ever been on the receiving end of?

"Henri Lansbury did the classic deep heat in the shorts on me when we were scholars at Arsenal. I still need to get him back for that, actually."
