Furlong: We got what we came for

Darnell Furlong is delighted with Albion’s clean sheet in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship win at Hull City.

Jake Livermore stunning solo effort was enough to claim a 1-0 victory at the KCOM Stadium with the Baggies able to keep the hosts at bay.

And Furlong says his team-mates’ spirit and work rate helped claim all three points in Yorkshire.

“We set out to do that, to win the game,” he said. “To do that with a clean sheet as well, that’s all we needed to do, so I’m very pleased.

“Sometimes you come away from home and you get dragged into how other teams want to play. We came out on top, and we took our chance when we needed to.

“It’s a good result.

“The boys are sticking together and riding it out. No-one gets too ahead of themselves after or during the game. It’s a nice result to take into the international break.

“We like to control games, and at home we can do that because it’s almost at our place and teams kind of let us play. Against different opposition at different grounds sometimes we get sucked into how they want to play and we have to match that. To match it and come away from the win is very strong.”
